Quality Assurance Analyst (Full and Part Time positions available)

Responsibilities:

Planning, conducting, and documenting system tests Merrick's suite of products DynaCap, eVIN, ProCount, OVS, Rig Hand, Regulatory and RIO modules
Documenting system defects
Conducting regression tests
Performing other software quality control and software installation functions
Assist on new software releases
Communicate with Management, Development Team, and End Users/Customers to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and report project status
Follow up on "critical" issues both internally and externally with clients
Assist in keeping a list of known errors and possible "work arounds" (until they are fixed) to be published on line for users
Special projects, as needed
Travel to client sites may be required

Qualifications:

Must have a good understanding of problem analysis and problem solving.
Candidate should be self motivated, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Oil & Gas experience a plus especially in upstream operations
Proficient in PC, Network and software set up
Proficient in at least one standard query tool such as ISQL, Microsoft's Query Analyzer, Oracle's SQL, Access
Ability to write and modify bat files
Experienced using MS Windows Operating Systems
Database Administration experience a plus (MS SQL Server/Oracle/Sybase).
SQL programming, VP, PowerBuilder or C++ experience helpful
Experience in writing scripts for regression test software a plus

Responsibilities:

Perform project management duties including scheduling of implementation projects, coordinate resources, manage client expectations
Communicate with Management, Development Team, and End Users/Customers to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and report project status
Perform data population, implementation, and conversion for clients
Train clients in use of software
Assist in documentation and testing
Help assign teams to specific releases based on client needs and expectations
Determine how to handle mid-release change requests
Compile estimates
Upgrade software and hardware in operational locations
Assisting with sales – serving as a source for sales leads, may need to go on sales presentations
Ensures maximum issue resolution in minimum time
Planning, conducting, and documenting system tests for Merrick’s suite of products
Monitor resolution of “critical” client issues
Act as the front line in customer support by taking calls and emails from clients regarding set-up questions and problems for Merrick’s suite of products
Certifies that products are stable
Works to develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements that include the creation and execution of methods and procedures for testing and debugging programs
Work with consultants and testers to determine if reported problems are “bugs” requiring scheduling for program fixes or related to set-up issues requiring additional support
Release Posting
Communicate with Management, Development Team, and End Users/Customers to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues
Prioritize within items already assigned to specific release for testing
Monitor testing progress on Test SCRs
Report to other teams on progress of testing for unit and regression
Perform software installations at client sites as needed and act as technical back up for help desk

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, and/or Computer Science with 3 years experience and/or Masters in above with one year experience
Advanced in PC, Network, and software set-up
Advanced skills in at least one standard query tool such as ISQL, Microsofts’s Query Analyzer, Oracle'’s SQL, Toad, or Access
Proficient in database administration experience (MS SQL Server/Oracle/Sybase)
Experienced using MS Windows Operating Systems
SQL programming, VB.net, C#, or Java experience helpful
Must have a good understanding of problem analysis and problem solving
Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills
Candidate should be willing to work extended hours when necessary to meet schedules and provide support for production implementations
Ability to work well under pressure is required

Summary:
The Software Engineer will work other developers, project managers, clients and various related teams to design, develop, maintain and document software for Merrick products. The tasks include, but are not limited to, the following

Responsibilities:

Software development using Microsoft C# and Sun Java languages
Development of maintainable commented code
Development and success execution of unit tests
Occasionally assist Customer Service /Help Desk staff in problem identification and rectification
Monitor time spent on tasks and submission of weekly timesheet
Ensuring that software adheres to Merrick standards

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Petroleum Engineering, or related field. Minimum five years of experience with some or all of the following:

Software engineering skills in a Windows environment
Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
Translation of customer requests into technical specifications
User interface design
Implementation and maintenance of a complex, comprehensive information management system
Some application support (i.e., troubleshooting, diagnosis resolution)
Experience working with at least one source control system
Providing technical support to team members
Basic Microsoft operating system administration, web server administration, and networking skills

Specifically:

Proficiency in one or both of the following: C#, Java
Proficiency in SQL is a must
Experience with any of the following is a plus: Socket programming, N-Tier development, custom UI control development, Compact .Net Framework
Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly the production arena is a plus

Supports the suite of Merrick's software applications by working with clients
Participate in full quality assurance life cycle of Merrick's products
Train clients in use of software
Communicate project status
Will require limited data population, implementation tasks and data conversion work including database administration
Software installation preparation and debugging

Qualifications:

BBA in Management Information Systems
IT Project Development knowledge
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to stay current on new technology
One year experience required; upstream Oil & Gas industry is a plus
IT Technical Support Consultant experience
Programming Languages: Java, JavaScript, VBScript, HTML, C++, Visual Basic
Software: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, SGL, Windows NT
Database Administration Experience
Familiar with install package creation
Bi-lingual and international experience a plus

Provide engineering support to complement Merrick 's suite of software applications
Troubleshoot simple and complex oil & gas issues
Write queries for clients
Participate in full quality assurance life cycle of Merrick's products
Train clients in use of software
Performs data mapping, data population, implementation tasks, and data conversion
Develop program specifications for Development team

Qualifications:

BS in Computer Engineering
Advanced computer skills including work with databases and ability to use query tools.
Knowledge of programming languages such as Visual Basic and C++ is a plus.
Technical Support Consultant experience
Two plus years in the oil and gas industry
Knowledge of field data capture and production accounting software development
Supervisory and Project Lead experience
Excellent communications skills
Bi-lingual and international experience is a plus
